Final composited beauty render.

This airplane is modelled after the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 from WW2.

Workflow

All modelling was done inside of 3ds Max using box modelling and subdivision surfaces as well as UV unwrapping. Textures were hand painted with the texture paint tools in Blender:

  • Diffuse channel
  • Normal map
    • Nuts, bolts, panels, …
    Clay render.

    Wireframe render.

The text and symbols on the plane were created in Illustrator and are projected onto the model inside 3ds Max.

Rendered using mental ray in multiple passes and composited together in Photoshop along with some post-processing.
